Like Twitter, these networks can become ecosystems. Plus, they have a better chance of continuing to survive when Facebook enters the location ring. Foursquare got an early start released their API in November. And now Gowalla will be releasing its API today, we’ve heard. It's clearly paving the way for an app that will allow users to checkin in multiple services at the same time.
